Never in my lifetime did I expect to see my beloved AKB48 being mentioned in the news over here in England. Never did I expect to see them featured so heavily in the Japanese media as they have been for the last eighteen months or so for that matter. I can’t help but feel an enormous amount of pride that they’ve managed to make it so big and yet it does feel a little like they’ve been stolen away from me in recent times with the massive influx of new fans. Heck I remember complaining about the voting for AX2010, I don’t even dare to look at the full list for what this year’s was.

All of that is largely irrelevant though; the only feelings of mine that are relevant in the current climate of AKB’s goings on is the joy of hearing that “Ice no Kuchizuke” will be featured on their newest single, so I suppose you could say this is officially Eguchi Aimi’s debut, maybe. Relief may be a more fitting word actually though, it was pretty obvious it was going to feature somewhere down the line as we all know how AKB love to milk every marketing ploy they come up with and seeing this one pass them by would have bordered on the ridiculous. For those who don’t recognise the title of the song it’s the one featured in the recent ad campaign that has been getting so much attention around the world featuring everyone’s favourite fictional idol Eguchi Aimi.

If you do happen to see have spotted reports on this from overseas then you’ll probably notice the fact that they like to get details wrong for seemingly no reason; such as claiming it’s a composition of eight different members instead of six.

It was certainly amusing to go back and read people’s posts on various forums regarding Eguchi’s tangibility and seeing just how far some people flew off the handle defending her and saying there is just no way that she can be fake. If you haven’t tried it already you really should go and check out the “Oshimen Maker” on the Ice no Mi website as it really is quite a laugh. It’s far more entertaining to make them look as hideous as possible though rather than to make a potential oshimen candidate. “Ice no Kuchizuke” playing in the background really did annoy me at first but I grew to love it before too long, I love just how easy to amnipulate predict we mere mortals are.

Truly horrific.

There isn’t a massive amount of info about the single at the moment as it’s not due out until August 24th but both special edition versions all already sold out on CDJapan. As is the usual tradition each version is slightly different just to rape your wallet that little bit more. That is such an overused expression and there’s no way I’m ever going to use it again…

I had heard rumours of Yasai Sisters coming back to do a song on at least one of the versions and while I’d welcome this with open arms I can’t really confirm or deny it either way as I’m not sure anybody knows right now.

Will I be buying at least one copy for myself? Probably not as things stand, I’d only really consider getting a version with a DVD since I don’t usually buy singles at all and since there aren’t even any around at the moment I can’t see that being the case. I don’t even have “Koko ni Ita Koto” yet but that’s simply because it was pretty poo.

AKB48 Orchestrated Medley

There’s something about idol music that makes it more epic than any other when you hear it being played on piano on guitar, well maybe not for most people but I’m not most people. Having an entire orchestra perform these tunes isn’t something I really though I’d ever hear but I’ll glady eat my hat on this occasion if it’s the only punishment I get for hearing this slice of fried gold. Sure, I wish there was a version of “Bird” included in there but I don’t think any complaints would really be justified.

You can pick up the album with this on . Unfortunately there’s no track listing on there so I can’t say if there’s any other gems hidden away. Let’s hope AKB decided to release an entire album like this for themselves.

It’s been a long time since I wrote anything in this place, almost a whole year. People say that time flies when you’re having fun, well I musttn’t have been having much as it seems a lot longer ago than that since I was last here. Strange that I should begin on such an apathetic note though as me starting back here has nothing to do with a certain other blog starting in the past few days as I actually planned this the day before I noticed it. For those who don’t know what I’m talking about; don’t worry about it. For those who do, no doubt you don’t believe me.

It’s pretty likely you won’t have read any of the previous entries in this blog and if that is the case and you are a big AKB48 fan then I’ll say right off the bat that you probably aren’t going to like a lot fo the stuff I’m going to say and you’ll probably get offended and get into some sort of hissy fit along the way. Let’s hope not though for both our sakes. Either way it will quickly become apparent that most of my love for AKB is directed towards Takamina.

The only time I’ve ever felt sorry for an idol, still hilarious though.

So what has inspired me to come back then? Well if you have read any of the previous posts on here you’ll quickly notice that my tolerance for many things related to the world of idols and it’s fandom could be somewhat higher than it is. Nothing has changed on that but for the past year my interest in it has also waned considerably, that was due in no small part to AKB acheiving the huge fame they seem to have garnered. It’s strange how things come full circle though as it is the sheer enormity of said fame that has eventually brought me back here once more. I feel compelled to write something on the subject of AKB as seeing other people write about them on the Internet has become an unavoidable part of my life, and despite the fact that I haven’t gathered much knowledge in the last twelve or so months on this subject I still feel I’m in a better position than most to comment on it. Why? Because I’m a bit of an arrogant prick. Not only that, unlike most I can give a (largely) unbiased viewpoint on all things related to AKB which is something that not many fellow fans can seem to do. It’s also fair to say I’ve seen a fair amount of criticsm on the group that in a lot of cases is totally unfounded.

Let me set the record straight though, it would be totally unfair to blame my lack of interest in AKB in recent times completely on the fans, that’s only part of it. The simple fact of the matter is that the music simply isn’t as good anymore either. One year on since the release of A6 and I still don’t have much inspiration to listen to it from start to finish. As any idol fan should know though, it isn’t all about the music, in fact for me that’s only about twenty percent of it, the rest of it being made up with the tv show appearances by the girls and their ridiculous antics. It’s taken me a lot longer than it should have to deduce the fact that I don’t actually have to listen to the music at all to still enjoy groups like AKB48. Watching the stages and then not knowing half the girls is annoying but the only way I’m ever going to learn them is by watching the TV shows.

It’s no surprise to me that people don’t understand my shameless Takamina worship when such ridiculous moments are commonplace.

Another point I could easily bring up here is the fact that the idol community simply isn’t filled with as much goodwill now as it was ten years ago and subtitles for programmes are simply not available as readily as they used to be and my knowledge of Japanese is minimal at best. This isn’t really the group’s fault though and I can’t relaly expect people to sub these shows constantly; in fatc the amount of Hello! Project material that was subbed is really pretty impressive. Thankfully Japan has a pretty basic standard of humour if I say so myself and a lot of the stuff in these shows that is actually funny is the visual stuff as the hilarious one liners aren’t really hilarious at all.

So it’s time to take the plunge and start watching AKBingo unsubtitled and see where that leads me. Of course fi it doesn’t lead me very far then this “revival” will be short lived to say the very least. I’m not especially optimistic nor pessimistic over this though. hopefully I will carry this on though just so anyone that reads this can laugh at my lack of knowledge on AKB’s current affairs.

My mission here isn’t anything especially noble, I am afterall only here to fill my own free time and amuse myself as I have nobody else to discuss these things with, at least not to a level I’d be remotely happy with. More liekly than not I’ll simply showcase random hilarious events I notice on the weekly shows and comment on any music releases that appear alng the way. This sin’t going to be a review site by any means though and it certainly isn’t the place you want to come to in order to catch up on the latest news as I’ll probably be last to hear about it and there will be hundreds of blogs out there that will present it in a much better way.

Since it has been such a long time I think my first real post that really talks about anything in general (sine this one didn’t bother to do that) will be a quick review of everything I’ve missed in the last tweleve months, it’s fair to say there’s a large amount and I have no idea how much detail I’ll be going into until I…..well until I do.

Here’s an audio rip of A6 that was revealved on 27th July. Enjoy and all that stuff.

You can see my own thoughts on the stage here.

I don’t know how they’ve done it but they have. I didn’t think this group could surprise me any more with the sheer nerve they have at pushing the boundaries of fan service and this is certainly the furthest I’ve ever seen them go with it. I don’t want to spoil anything for those who haven’t seen it yet so I’m not going to go into details but those hardcore fans with a weak heart probably shouldn’t watch this.

All the girls look amazing but Atsuko stood out the most for me (I’m probably going to be calling her Acchan before long the way things are going) but just wow…
Also, when the chorus gets repeated at the end they should have stuck some double pedals in there, just sayin’. I know, that probably should be the last thing on my mind after watching this.

Thanks to lllooo888 for uploading the PV to youtube. The video is unlisted so shouldn’t be removed anytime soon for copyright reasons or the like. I’ve also added a download link for those who want to keep it for themselves for…personal reasons.

It’s been a long time since I’ve watched any of the stages and that’s because AX is usually my own version of Christmas and I get far more excited over that. Plus, I never actually seem to be in one of my phases of actually caring about the band and so just get hold of each stage as and when I can, this is actually the first time I’ve got hold of one of them straight after release. So what are my expectations? Well considering my absence has meant that I’m still yet to really get into K5 or B6 I’m having to go off anything before then to really compare it against. Which means I should be loving half of it and half of it should be really dull as dishwater generic idol pop that anyone with a basic knowledge of Japanese music could have sprung out of their ass. My biggest fear going into this will be the lack of familiar names and faces as I may find it hard to care about all but a few of the girls.

Apologies in advance for the rubbish screencaps, video wasn’t exactly amazing quality.

00. Miniskirt no Yosei

Old habits die hard, and while I completely forget the fact that I’m used to the overture coming up first I’m instead greeted by three girls and I have no idea who they are. Thankfully they don’t annoy me with their song but it’s fair to say that I’m relieved when I realise it’s those Zenza girls or whatever they call them who aren’t actually part of the main stage. Not an overly annoying song but it’s instantly forgotten once the overture starts as I remember what is actually going on.

01. Mokugekisha

So straight after the overture is some sort of weird projection of riots, is this a new thing that they do at the start of every show? Really these riots don’t look very fearsome at all and it just looks like the kind of crowds you’d get after any Premiership football match so if it’s meant to have some kind of shock value it didn’t really work. The song is AKB through and through and is decent enough, with my Japanese being rubbish though I don’t see the connection between the song and the video we’ve just seen. Knowing AKB there probably isn’t even a connection at all. The most interesting thing of not is that they all start the song lay on the floor, but it’s not that great if that’s the most stand out thing really is it?

It was nice to see the likes of Haruna, Atsuko and of course Takamina up there but it wasn’t too long before I found myself looking for Minegishi and when the realisation set in that I was going to be seeing her I couldn’t help but feel bitterly disappointed. No more Itano either was a reality I didn’t fancy facing up to. Sure I could go and grab K6 anytime but not seeing the old gang together was going to take a lot of adjusting to. Looks like I’ve got a lot of new name learning to do in the future. Wonderful.

At the end of the song we get the projection again so I’m guessing ti does actually have some relevance but once more it just sounds like football fans to me so the dramatic boom at the end isn’t too convincing for me.

02. Zenjin Mitou

Not bad but certainly not breathtaking, reminds me a lot of a poor man’s Yume wo Shinaseru Wake Ikanai with a slightly exotic twist to it; up against such an epic track though it was always going to come out second best so it’s a shame I’m thinking of it in its shadow, hopefully that won’t last forever. Special comment has to go on to the costumes that the girls are wearing, they’re rubbish. They may not be as bad as the papier-mâché from Haru ga Kuru Made but they look just as cheap and don’t even has as much charm as their crappy cousins. I suppose the sleeves look alright. Maybe I sound a little harsh on this song, it’s not too bad in all honesty but it isn’t grabbing me by the grapefruits.

03. Ibitsu na Shinju

As the third song starts it gets my hopes up as only Takamina and Mariko are left on the stage for a brief moment, there could actually be a song here performed by two members that I actually know and like! It doesn’t last long though as it becomes apparent it’s just for a costume change, and one that looks like a Christmas present got into a fight with a box of jewellery. It’s a stage getup but it’s better than the last one and the kind of thing you’d expect to see from a group that doesn’t like to make much sense. On a side not, I can’t believe I went all these years without knowing “jewellery” had two “l”’s in it, how embarrassing.

The introduction already sets it apart from the songs before it as it actually sounds a bit different, plus Haruna’s voice that sings the opening lines is still as confusing to me as it was when I first heard it. Can she actually sing or not? She’s in tune but she probably shouldn’t be; I don’t understand it. This song makes me think that this stage may be pretty good and it’s not going to be filled with the usual stuff that has only filled half of them in the past and it’s helped in no small part by a solo Takamina couple of lines. The instrumental section where the over the top guitar solo should normally be helps make it interesting too simply because it’s a bit different.

04. Akogare no Popstar

When did Atsuko learn to sing in tune? I really must have been away too long. It’s a nice opening line delivered well but I can’t help but feel a bit of RAGE inside of me when another happy clappy song starts up after that as it would have been nice to have had it mixed up a bit at this point. I suppose I can’t hold too much against the song in terms of its positioning in the track list since I usually just leave my AKB songs on random anyway so it’s probably not going to cause me to cry about it anytime soon.

It does deliver us our first stupidly happy guitar solo that would have had a better home back in the 80’s but it’s just those kind of moments that I like for some reason and it’s a bit strange when it’s interrupted halfway through by…well I’m not really sure what by, just another noise of some sort to bring it back into the chorus when really it probably should been allowed to have carried on slightly longer. I am being extremely pedantic though but that’s what writing these reviews does to you.

Usually I don’t care for these stupid MC’s that idol bands do in the middle of their performances but my extremely biased nature means that it involves Takamina they don’t seem so bad, though I would argue that it is with legitimate reason. Whenever Reina was involved with this kind of thing in Morning Musume it was still just as dull to me as it would have been if it would have been Makoto doing it (Ogawa of course, not the hero that is Bowl Head) despite the fact that I preferred Reina over Takamina for a long time. That’s because they’re all staged and any jokes that are thrown in generally aren’t funny because it’s coming from someone with a Japanese sense of humour. Of course, not knowing what they’re talking about most of the time doesn’t help me but in Takamina’s case this doesn’t seem to be an issue.

To my knowledge there never has been and probably never will be an idol that enjoys what she does on stage as much as she does. Never before have I actually been in admiration of the sheer work ethic of any of these girls until she came along. When Takamina is happy, I can’t help but feel happy, when she’s crying, I can’t help but feel myself well up a little bit. Sad? Probably, in fact, definitely. The fact that she is so genuine in everything she does though is just so refreshing so actually seeing her happy talking about whatever rubbish it is she announces here is nice to see and it’s that kind of thing I will probably never get bored of seeing.

Anyway, back on to the actual review…Sashihara makes an appearance here, huzzah someone else I know even if I don’t exactly know much about them. Why the hell does she say thank you so many times though? Okay all the members go through their usual introduction stuff, although I actually found this quite educational in terms of learning names I can’t be bothered commenting on it all as it simply won’t be very interesting to read or write and I’ve talk enough rubbish on this bit already.

05. Ude wo Kunde

I’m glad to see that Atsuko gets her share of solo lines here because of the brief glimpse we got of her voice earlier and I was actually pretty impressed. It’s also great to see one of the girls playing an instrument on stage again too though it’s Sayaka Nakaya which is a girl I have no idea about in the slightest, either way she doesn’t seem to be sitting too comfortably. Like Zenjin Mitou this is already quite exotic sounding with its flamenco styled guitar and I’d say that it’s certainly one of the better songs so far.

06. Enjo Rosen

In truth I’m really not impressed with this song at all as it reeks of mediocrity and the costumes are pretty meh too. We have two girls I don’t have much opinion on in Sashihara and Takajo though the former being my preferred of the two. This is mainly because Takajo’s face irritates me, harsh I know but true. Every time I see her I get angry for some unknown reason and yet whenever she actually does anything I’m pleasantly surprised by the fact that it doesn’t annoy me. She actually seems like an interesting member and she hasn’t actually done anything to upset me so I have no idea where my irrational dislike comes from. Maybe it’s being stuck in units for songs like this that make me think she will forever just be lingering in the background for me.

07. Itoshisa no Akuseru

Never have I had such a quick turnaround in emotions about a song as when this first started. I like to give songs a fair chance but even after the first couple of seconds I couldn’t help but feel that we were going to get yet another generic AKB song and it was actually pretty depressing. That soon changed though when I saw Takamina step out by herself wearing some kind of badass costume with…a lightsaber? I couldn’t believe what I was seeing; this was actually a solo song for Takamina. I don’t even feel it’s bias when I say that it’s the best vocally so far (duh) but the effort she even put into the choreography just blew everything away that had appeared so far. In truth though I actually preferred the verses of the song than I did the chorus as it wasn’t especially catchy, which is a shame.

When the inevitable guitar solo arrived I was wondering what exactly Takamina would be doing with herself on stage considering she’d be throwing herself around a lot more than anyone else had already and thankfully yes, she did put her lightsaber to good use. All I could think of while she was dancing around like a fool with it was how she’d make the greatest Samurai Warriors character ever with this dance as her musou. I can’t believe I actually just put that…

This is one song I’m really curious to find a translation of as I get the feeling it’s gonna be pretty hilarious. The cretins in the audience don’t give a loud enough cheer at the end though it has to be said.

08. Hoshi no Mukougawa

I had a bit of a depressing though while listening to this song: it sounds like I’ve heard ten AKB songs already that sound a bit like this one. My problem in the later years of Morning Musume was the direction the band were heading in, more specifically between their sixth to ninth albums and yet I carried on listening. Now, I suppose I should take into account the fact that AKB already have more stages than Morning Musume have studio albums and so it’s gonna be easier to compare songs and the group hasn’t been around anywhere near as long but there seems to be a lack of progression between the stages. Even if it was a step backwards in terms of a sound that I’d actually enjoy in accordance to my own personal tastes I’d like to at least see a bit of a change to see that things aren’t always going to be the same.

Like I’ve said so many times already in this review the song rolls on nicely but doesn’t do anything special that gets my attention and in truth it could well have appeared on any of the other stages. I know the whole concept is very different but there is a pretty clear difference in sound between most Momusu albums but you could just take a dozen random songs from AKB stages and stick them together to make an entirely new stage and there really would be very little difference to notice. Don’t get me wrong, AKB do some vastly differing sounding songs but there is nothing that sets each stage apart from one another, you get me?

09. Saboten to Gold Rush

I get a very similar vibe from this that I did the first time I heard Yuuki no Hammer and that’s not bad thing. Too many times I’ve heard the intro to that song insulted by people on the net because they say it’s too “weird”, I wouldn’t constitute it as weird myself but it is the group doing something DIFFERENT, which is always nice considering the last point I was just making. On first impressions only this and the Itoshisa no Akuseru would make it through to a list of my favourite AKB songs and the latter would probably only do so for one very obvious reason. Despite the chorus featuring a bit too much it’s probably the first song that hasn’t had me thinking “verse, chorus, verse, chorus, solo, chorus”.

10. Utsukushiki Mono

Gah, promising start but it feels like I’ve heard that drum beat a thousand times before. Still I’m liking the vocals here too, especially the whole thing of them overlapping with each other with the talking. I still can’t believe how good Atsuko sounds and she totally nails the whole atmosphere the song is trying to pull off. Sadly she isn’t joined by everyone in this as one or two of the girls come off as a bit pathetic in their attempts of being sultry, Natsumi Matsubara really comes off looking like a tin of paint in this song for some bizarre reason.

I’ve already seen some people complaining about the talking in this song over the chorus but it doesn’t really bother me and the instrumental part of the song is really epic. Thinking about it, if the talking wasn’t in there it probably would have been yet another familiar sounding chorus but it sort of gives a weird haunting quality to it which is kinda cool methinks.

11. Ai wo Kure

Keeping in mind all that has already been said about previous songs the most disappointing thing about this one is the lack of inspiration from anyone, nobody really seems to grab it by the scruff of the neck and it make it their song, even Takamina goes missing for large portions of it. It’s another foreign sounding one though, so I suppose I should be relatively satisfied in terms of wanting some sort of theme to the stages. I actually don’t have too much to say on this song at all unless I repeat a lot of what has already gone before and nobody wants that.

12. Matenrou no Kyori

Pretty deceptive when it starts off this song is. At first you think you’re gonna get a pretty serious sounding rock orientated song before you change your mind and think you’re gonna get typical catchy idol pop before it goes back into quite a rocky number. For “you”, read “I”. I do tend to like the songs where the girls are split into smaller groups and sing the vocals in said groups until it’s time for the chorus where they all group together to make it sound a bit more epic but strangely this is another song where I actually prefer the verse to the chorus. It’s just missing that special something that kind of fails to get a real hook in but maybe I’d like it better if I’d heard this on A3 or A4? Who knows? It does have to be said that the guitar solo is exactly what you’d expect and we’ve been pretty deprived in that section thus far for this stage so that pleases me. Cheese ahoy.

13. Inochi no Imi

I like Takamina’s hat. I also like the fact that she is opening another song with Atsuko. I suppose the costumes are also the best we’ve seen so far even if those baggy pants do stink of “The Peace!” This could have been a truly epic song if it had had well timed bells ringing out in it like Sakura no Hanabiratchi but of course this isn’t a graduation song so having bells in it would be stupid…..shut up. This definitely has the look and sound of a song that should be closing the show though so I think they could of messed up a bit on that one. I like the song already but I get the feeling this one is going to grow on me a lot more as time goes on and I’m a sucker for the militaristic imagery as well.

On reflection the costumes actually are far better than those used in “The Peace!” but the buckles and stuff on the front of the shirt actually look painted on…I hope I’m wrong because that would be unnecessarily cheap to say the least, especially for a group that now has enough budget to get tanks and helicopters in their music videos.

14. I’m Crying

When I first saw the title of this song I was hoping we’d get another slower track here, I mean we’ve only really had two here so far and none have been featuring highly in the epic factor. Although that isn’t what you get here I was really impressed with the song, though more so with the instrumentation than the vocal parts. It’s sort of sinister sounding and for some reason this is something I find that AKB does really well, look no further than “Inochi no Tsukaimichi” for proof on that one. I suppose there is something a little unsettling about a group of Japanese schoolgirls singing together in unison though. It’s also strange that despite the fact we’ve seen so many variations of it in the past already the school uniform costumes are also really good as well. One thing that isn’t convincing is the use of Engrish, especially not in the last line of the song but that’s being a bit fussy about things.

15. Zutto Zutto

I’ve been waiting to write about a song like this since the start of this stage and finally here it is. Though, once again, the chorus falls slightly short we finally have a genuinely catchy and stupid idol pop-rock song along the lines of “RUN RUN RUN”. This is one song that is definitely positioned well in the track list but it does seem like we’ve been waiting for it forever. Having two songs in this style wouldn’t have gone amiss but I suppose that’s personal preference more than anything else.

Of course Takamina kicking things off helped a great deal. Seriously though, the fact she has such strong vocals compared to many others in the group and that she was a familiar face for me at least stood the song in good stead from the start.

16. Pioneer

Guitar is great here, shame we don’t really get enough of it. It’s nice to see the stage ending on a relative high even if they still think that “Inochi no Imi” would have made a far better closing song, in fact just swapping these two around would have made more sense to me. I can’t say too much here that wasn’t said about the last song as they are much in the same style, which is something I asked for so it’s all good, we do get a pretty nice silly solo in this one too which is never a bad thing.

So what have we learned from this stage? Well I certainly haven’t learnt any more member’s names and none of the new members have really stood out for me which I guess is a bit disappointing but at the end of the day there’s at least some girls in there I already know and like and so it’s just good to hear new material. Much like most other stages this was filled out with some songs that were very run of the mill as well as some which were actually pretty damn good, it just so happens that most of those actually seem to come in the second half of this stage. I’m not going to panic about the fact that I wasn’t blown away by A6 on first impressions as I don’t think any stage has ever done that to me, it’s always taken me a few watches or listens to really appreciate them and even then I have to filter out the songs that doesn’t really interest me so much.

All in all it was pretty much what I expected and a bonus of a Takamina solo is of course no bad thing, and I’m sure I’ll learn to love it in time. Just don’t ever expect it to remove “Bird” from its perch. lololololol

Okay, so I found this out over at IXA Ready and I was both surprised and pretty damn amused too. Turns out some random Japanese metal band by the name of STUDIO BURNING is doing a sort of power metal cover album of seven AKB48 songs. Samples are over at the website so get yourself over there now: STUDIO BURNING Website.

Tracklisting is as follows:

1. AKB Sanjou
2. Suifu wa Arashi ni Yume wo Miru
3. 109
4. Zannen Shoujo
5. Mushi no Ballad
6. Mail no Namida
7. Korogaru Ishi ni Nare

If you’re expecting something along the lines of Evil Morning as I was, you’d be wrong. This is a proper cover album, as in you’ve got an original vocalist and everything is recorded in a studio. I’m no power metal fan, but I can honestly say this doesn’t annoy me as much as most of that stuff does simply because it doesn’t have some over the top high-pitched Bruce Dickinson wannabe at the forefront. The vocalist is still nothing special though. Still, AKB metal covers. Pretty hilarious.

If you find it hilarious enough to purchase or actually like it then HMV Japan is your friend.

It isn’t very often I get shocked by goings on in the idol world any more. Usually if it’s some sort of scandal it doesn’t bother me so much as it will either be about a girl I don’t care about or I’ve gotten used to heartbreak after the infamous Kago Ai Friday affair. Of course, there are exceptions to this rule…

One girl I didn’t expect to be shocking me though was Nakanishi Rina, in fact I only really started to form an opinion on her since she’d left the group anyway. Idols going into the AV business is something that gets talked about a lot but in truth it’s usually just wishful thinking fo the parts of perverted wotas and people are hoping it will come true rather than actually expecting it, at least I’d like to think so. When Rina decided it was time get her waps out yes I was pretty shocked, I wasn’t exactly mortified like a lot of the communities seem to be though. So many fans seem to be angry at her as younger members of AKB looked up to her and all stuff like that. All I can say is “meh”, if that’s the attitude people are having then nobody should enter the porn industry ever as they’re bound to leave an impression on someone young and impressionable amirite?

I have to admit, since Rina went into the AV world I did quickly take a look to see what I could find without much success. No doubt curiosity will get the better of me again in the future. For those who have had as much luck as me in finding anything or for those that are too scared of seeing one of their beloveds all naked then you might as well take a look at her photobook. NOT the one that was released with her latest DVD. These were posted on my last blog but I thought I’d add them here too for those who don’t already have them. As always I’d say go and buy them if you can rather than being a cheapskate. Sometimes I think people say that just for the sake of it but I actually mean it you douche.

So with the recent Senbatsu elections we’re given a new single in super quick time just like this time last year with the abomination that was Iiwake Maybe. So, will the song be as bad this time around? Well, see for yourself as z3144228III has been kind enough to upload a radio rip of the song.

My relationship with AKB singles releases since switching over to King Records hasn’t been great, I’ve disliked most of the songs as I think they’re all too similar and pretty bland yet at the same time they’re clearly going about the promotion of the songs pretty damn well judging by sales figures. As long as the stages don’t end up getting watered down by this kind of stuff I’m happy for the mainstream to lap up the kind of garbage they’ve been loving so far.

Early impressions don’t do much to break the mould or change my opinion but at least I don’t have an underlying hatred for it like I do with Iiwake Maybe. To me it sounds like generic idol pop and no doubt it will do well on Oricon. In truth I’ve come to expect this kind of thing from them as of late, yes I did say I took time away from idols and AKB in my last post but I still knew when there was a single release or the like. If this had been released twelve months ago I may have been in a RAGE over this song but I’m desensitised now so I can actually make it all the way to the end of the track. Huzzah.

A special mention needs to go to the PV for Namida no Seesaw Game (if that isn’t a typical AKB song title then I don’t know what is) as it is completely ridiculous but actually goes with the song pretty well if you have an ounce of imagination. The stereotypical black men with afro hairstyles underline just how hilariously racist Japan can be without even knowing it.

Here’s what you wanted anyway, tracklist for both the regular and special edition. If you’re looking to buy either version then from personal experience I’d say go with CDJapan. Oh, and a congrats must go out to Yuko for actually beating Atsuko to the top of the pile at the elections; looks like her reward is a cover all to herself.

Don’t even get me started on the distinct lack of Takamina and her awful ranking at senbatsu or I may just fuck a guy.

So I’ve been around in the idol community on the net for around four years now and I’ve finally come to realise something. I don’t like it. In fact my level of dislike has become so great that I can’t stand to visit many idol related sites and forums to discuss some of my favourite things.

I’ll be honest and say that I’m not the biggest lover of people in general and so when you get thousands of screaming Japanese wota out there in a crowded audience I see it as something that a quick sledgehammer to the face could fix. Having also had a brief exposure to a Western wota audience I can say that understanding what they are actually saying the majority of the time makes me think twice about the sledgehammer. Maybe it isn’t enough.

Wrong. Even I, who considers himself to be a complete freak when it comes to some of these girls would never go this far, and this is nothing compared to some of the other pics of shrines I’ve seen. Although the cup of milky liquid in the corner is particularly unsavoury.

Don’t get me wrong, I know there are plenty of people out there in the idol community that are generally nice people even if just for having an interest in this stuff they are weird by proxy.  I would still genuinely love to talk to people about all this stuff but I’m going to happily shoot down anybody who acts like an idiot. Although I’m an avid supporter of purchasing whatever you can afford to support many of these idol groups I can’t thank the people enough who upload material for us to download as without them I never would have been able to get into this ridiculous fandom in the first place. It pains me to say that even some individuals I detest provide such material and it is with a begrudging smile I say “thank you” to those people too. However, I don’t wish to converse with many of these cretins and so this seems like the perfect alternative to that.

Like I say, I’ve been knocking around the idol communities about four years and my allegiance has gone from H!P to AKB48 over the years as has many other peoples and with good reason if I do say so myself; but I’ll get into that another time. I took a break from idols over the past nine months or so, not that it was planned; I just seemed to have a wane in interest. Out of nowhere though it’s hit me again, and hard. I feel myself wanting to talk about these moronic girls that I love so much and yet there really are so few people I know that share my passion with me that I have no choice but to turn to the Internet. You can see where I’m going with this. I would rather sit in silence than talk about these girls than many of the idiots I have met on my travels online and so it has come to talking to myself on a blog.

HEY BIZZNITCH CAN YOU DIG IT AT JPHIP DAWG???!!! Unfortunately not. Nice community, not especially well run though.

If you’ve ever visited 4chan this place is /jp/ and /b/ merged into one with the good parts of both taken out. Double standards aplenty, just don’t call them Nazis apparently…

Bitter? Me? What?

This isn’t the first time I’ve setup an idol related blog though, in fact it’s the third, though the first one doesn’t really count as it lasted a grand total of about two weeks. I actually gave up on the second one as I was a little begrudged over how few visitors and comments I thought I was getting. After trailing though other peoples blogs on similar subjects though I noticed mine wasn’t fairing too badly at all really. In fact it still attracts a number of visitors even now even though it has been inactive for around nine months. I could have quite easily continued work on that one as it showed up quite easily on search engines and the like but in truth I aim to make things very different this time around.

I used to have a pretty friendly demeanour and would hand out the latest AKB news to keep people happy. These were the kind of posts that would get you zero comments but hundreds of views and yet at the same time I wasn’t really putting much of an opinion forward. Whenever I do read other peoples blog entries I like hearing what they have to say for themselves, any news is a kind of bonus. I want to see how their opinion compares to mine and pleasantly discuss with them our differences while secretly thinking they’re a fool and completely wrong to discuss with my opinion which is quite clearly fact.

Nine months away from AKB is a long time, I see a lot of new faces as well as some old ones I still don’t know the names of but I’m happy to learn them in my own time. For a newbie entering the idol community it can be pretty intimidating as you’re expected to know every single members names as well as stupid nicknames just in order to be able to hold a conversation and not look like an idiot. AKB is particularly unforgiving with this, especially with SDN, SKE and that new one popping up too, no doubt there will be more before their time is up and they melt into idol oblivion. Like I’ve said though, I have no desire to fit in with these communities anymore and so I’m happy being pig ignorant and letting me make a fool of myself. If any news actually excites me I’ll be sure to post it and give my opinions on it. If something happens to random SKE member #16 though like breaking her leg, I don’t really care and it would be silly to expect to find news on such things on here.

I think my point is that the sun does not shine of these girl’s asses even if many fans wish to believe rubbish like that, these people are just deluded and I feel extremely sorry for them.

Well, all girls except Takamina, she is a god.
