So with the recent Senbatsu elections we’re given a new single in super quick time just like this time last year with the abomination that was Iiwake Maybe. So, will the song be as bad this time around? Well, see for yourself as z3144228III has been kind enough to upload a radio rip of the song.
My relationship with AKB singles releases since switching over to King Records hasn’t been great, I’ve disliked most of the songs as I think they’re all too similar and pretty bland yet at the same time they’re clearly going about the promotion of the songs pretty damn well judging by sales figures. As long as the stages don’t end up getting watered down by this kind of stuff I’m happy for the mainstream to lap up the kind of garbage they’ve been loving so far.
Early impressions don’t do much to break the mould or change my opinion but at least I don’t have an underlying hatred for it like I do with Iiwake Maybe. To me it sounds like generic idol pop and no doubt it will do well on Oricon. In truth I’ve come to expect this kind of thing from them as of late, yes I did say I took time away from idols and AKB in my last post but I still knew when there was a single release or the like. If this had been released twelve months ago I may have been in a RAGE over this song but I’m desensitised now so I can actually make it all the way to the end of the track. Huzzah.
A special mention needs to go to the PV for Namida no Seesaw Game (if that isn’t a typical AKB song title then I don’t know what is) as it is completely ridiculous but actually goes with the song pretty well if you have an ounce of imagination. The stereotypical black men with afro hairstyles underline just how hilariously racist Japan can be without even knowing it.
Here’s what you wanted anyway, tracklist for both the regular and special edition. If you’re looking to buy either version then from personal experience I’d say go with CDJapan. Oh, and a congrats must go out to Yuko for actually beating Atsuko to the top of the pile at the elections; looks like her reward is a cover all to herself.
